I’ve done a few courses in recent years and quite like online learning. It’s easy, simple, and you can do it in your house clothes, pjs, or naked if the mood takes you. Unless it’s a Zoom course, in which case, keep your clothes on. Unless, of course, it’s an online nudist course.
Anyway…
My mind is a sponge and constantly wants to learn and absorb. More so in the last decade or thereabouts.
So when I updated my bio at the beginning of this year, as I do every year, I realised I’d left off the silversmith course from my career timeline.
I tracked down the paperwork from the courses I did in 2008, made note of when I did them, and then typed up a list of everything I’d done so far. And it’s a lot, and it’s not going to stop.
If you’ve read my to-do list for this year, you would have seen there are a few more courses I want to do. I also signed up for a year’s subscription to Masterclass.com and have gone over dozens of courses in the last school holidays.
And why not? I’m an author, and just as with any other profession, we need to keep learning. Because learning is a good thing.
So here is the list of courses I have done in my lifetime starting from 2008. Those were in-person learning, the rest have been online.
If you want to try out some of the courses, in South Australia we have the WEA (link here) and Writer’s SA (link here), and in Australia, we have the Australian Writers’ Centre (link here). There are thousands more online websites for learning about writing and doing all sorts of courses, but these, along with everything else I’ve done, are the ones I used.
