Before we get to my lastest addiction, Poe, the father of goth horror and detective fiction, we’re warming up with the masters of Grimm horror and bloody elevators.

 

Starting with my brother from another mother, Stephen King.

This Insight Editions notebook has a map of The Overlook hotel on the front endpapers, and the bloody elevator on the back endpapers.

 

Paperblanks came out with this Carrie notebook in 2025.

 

I bought the t-shirt and matching notebook from Redbubble, and found the IT torch light on an online toy store in the US.

 

I found the Who Were The Brothers Grimm, and Who Is R.L. Stine books. While I don’t have any bios on either, I do have some fairy tale books left over from my childhood that probably came from the Grimms. I also watched the TV show, Grimm, when it aired, and it was repeated here in Aus over summer. I also read some Goosebumps and many a Fear Street book in my 20s, and they inspired my own T.K. Wrathbone YA horror stories.
